Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Bulls

To start, let’s take a look at this deal for Chicago and why it would make sense for them to pull the trigger.

Lauri Markkanen was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. When they selected him, many thought he could end up developing into a very special player. He is just 23 years old, but he has not shown the development that the franchise was hoping.

Moving him is not something the Bulls would love to do, but for the right price he would absolutely be available. In this trade, Chicago would be getting back pieces that would make trading Markkanen more than worthwhile.

Aaron Nesmith was a first-round pick this year by the Celtics and has the potential to be a lethal stretch forward. Both Romeo Langford and Grant Williams have a ton of talent in their own rights and could develop nicely with a new team and a bigger role. Throw in a first-round pick and this deal would be nearly impossible to pass up.

There is always a chance that Markkanen could develop into a borderline star in the future. He has the potential to be that kind of a player. However, if the Bulls receive this offer, they need to pull the trigger to add more talent to the roster and another first-round pick to work with moving forward.
