Knicks Will Be In Hunt For Playoff Spot In Final Month Of Season

Whether or not the Knicks actually make the playoffs, that is a major question that we will have to wait to see the answer to, but overall, this season will definitely be interesting for the New York Knicks. While they have been terrible for years and have been the laughing stock of the NBA, they have a decent team this year and with R.J. Barrett and Obi Toppin as the two young faces of the franchise, they may actually have a rotation that works this year.

Julius Randle had a good year last year, averaging 19.5 points, 9.7 rebounds and shooting 46% from the floor. Mitchell Robinson is expected to have a great third season in the NBA and with some key veterans in Alec Burks and Austin Rivers, the New York Knicks have the looks of a team that should be able to compete in games this year and make a legit push for the playoffs.

The 72-game schedule may actually end up helping a team like the Knicks given the fact that they do not have an All-Star level player yet. Their wins early on in the season will become much more valuable than they have been in the past and a few wins early in the season could go a long way in helping the Knicks reach the playoffs for the first time in 8 years.

Ultimately, the Knicks will likely fall short of making the playoffs, but they will learn a lot about their young team this year. They will finally get an answer on who the point guard of the future will be and with their young core of Barrett, Toppin and Robinson growing together, this New York Knicks team is set up for a lot of success down the line if they can keep this young core together and continue to develop them.
