Why the Trade Benefits the Chicago Bulls

While the Chicago Bulls would not be the team to land James Harden in this scenario, they would stand to benefit from helping to facilitate a potential deal. It would require Zach LaVine and Lauri Markkanen but it would bring back a starting backcourt and a few solid role players.

The long-term answer for the Bulls at the power forward position could very well end up being Patrick Williams. Being able to have his versatility with Wendell Carter Jr. manning the middle would help Chicago to stack up well with just about any style of opposing unit.

The Bulls would land an all-new starting backcourt with Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart. While there’s a lot left to be desired about Walker on defense, his shot creation and primary ball-handling ability would elevate the offense. Meanwhile, Smart is a helpful complement.

If Otto Porter Jr. could stay healthy, the Bulls would end up having a complete starting unit that has a real blend of impact on both ends of the court. Chicago would be able to pose a real threat to make the NBA playoffs in a rising Eastern Conference.
