Why the Trade Benefits the Charlotte Hornets

It is clear that the Charlotte Hornets are set in the backcourt. Aside from Gordon Hayward and LaMelo Ball, they have Terry Rozier and Devonte Graham, who emerged as a star last season. They are in need of help down low and there are few better than Drummond.

In nine years, Drummond has averaged a double-double eight times in his NBA career. He has led the league in rebounding four times including a career-high 16 per game in 2017-18. He has begun expanding his game out to the three-point line.

The Hornets have Zeller currently, who is entering the final year of his contract. It would benefit the Hornets to send him away in a deal. Drummond is an all-star caliber player who would improve the Hornets’ lineup greatly.

Charlotte could quickly rebuild further in a trade like this one. They are heavy in the backcourt and would be able to land one of the better forwards in the league.
