Why the Trade Benefits the Brooklyn Nets
With much of the current focus on the Brooklyn Nets being their inclusion as James Harden’s preferred trade destination, that has taken the bulk of the attention. Instead, they could look for a more realistic complement for Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the form of Bojan Bogdnaovic.
There are real limitations that come with having Taurean Prince at the four spot— mostly his lack of ability to create offensively or shoot from deep at a high-level. Bogdanovic is a considerable upgrade in these areas while providing a hard-nosed defensive impact against bigger forwards.
The disparity in perimeter shooting impact between Spencer Dinwiddie and Bogdanovic should be reason enough to consider this possibility. This would enable Kyrie Irving and Caris LeVert to take on more playmaking responsibility throughout games while having greater shooting around them.
The Jazz would also send Royce O’Neale in this deal— helping the Nets to make more of an impact on defense. He isn’t going to shutdown premiere players on switches, but he can take those assignments on the wing to take some pressure off Kevin Durant.
