Why the Trade Would Benefit the Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics have already built around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. They are clearly a win-now team and one of the top in the NBA. It is important to continue to build depth at all positions.
Heading into the NBA offseason, Boston needed to improve their depth at the center position. They have not yet made a deal for a big man and this is where Jaxson Hayes will come in to play. He would add another option in the paint for the Celtics.
Lonzo Ball is one of the more interesting players in the NBA because many view him in different ways. He has shown promise handling the ball and as a passer, but his ability to score and shoot from deep needs improvement.
With Brad Stevens as head coach, both Lonzo Ball and Jaxson Hayes would take the next step toward helping the Celtics accomplish their goal. Boston will not have to give up too much in this deal so it is worth it to take a chance on two young players with untapped potential in the league.
