Los Angeles Lakers Trade Kyle Kuzma for Key Piece
It has already been a busy NBA offseason for the Los Angeles Lakers from the standpoint of adding additional talent around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. With new additions like Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell, this is a championship team that got even stronger. However, is Kyle Kuzma’s skill-set they type that’s still needed?
With Davis’ preference to slot in primarily at the power forward spot, there isn’t a clean way for Kyle Kuzma to make a substantial impact. He’s not impactful enough as a lead scoring option to lead the bench unit and there will be overlap with Harrell.
Kyle Kuzma will soon require a contract extension and it just doesn’t make much sense to pay to keep him long-term. A team who needs his skill-set would benefit from acquiring him prior to the NBA trade deadline— giving them the ability to match any contract offer in restricted free agency.
There are other types of skill-sets the Lakers could greater benefit from having in their supporting cast. The time is now to surround Anthony Davis and LeBron James with an ideal group of players to win multiple championships. Trading Kyle Kuzma helps to achieve that.
