Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Pacers

Victor Oladipo may end up starting the season with Indiana. The team may want to see what they have under new head coach Nate Bjorkgren. Even the former All-Star himself seems intrigued to find out how the team will look with a new head coach.

There was no denying the rift between Oladipo and former head coach Nate McMillan. Rumors were swirling that he wanted McMillan out of town all season long.

However, the Pacers have been in this situation before. Paul George seemed interested in staying with the team and then changed his mind and forced his way out of town. The Pacers don’t have the luxury of waiting another year, as Oladipo will hit free agency next offseason.

Lou Williams and Patrick Beverley would be a solid return for Oladipo. They would be getting a ton of scoring in Williams and elite defense and energy in Beverley. Two second-round picks would give Kevin Pritchard more assets to work with.

Ideally, the Pacers will see Oladipo return to his old self and would be able to sign him to a long-term extension. But, with that possibility being just that, they may need to make a move. This one would give them good value.
