3. Dallas Mavericks
Another team that would make sense for Lou Williams would be the Mavericks. Dallas was hoping to make a splash this offseason, but they were unable to do so. Making a trade for Williams would give the Mavs more firepower.
Dallas is just a piece or two away from serious contention in the West. Led by Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, the Mavericks have their main pieces. They just need to surround them with more talent.
There are no more “splash” caliber players available on the free agency market. If the Mavericks do want to make a splash still, trading with the Clippers for Williams might be the best path.
Williams would be able to come off of the bench as the sixth man for the Mavericks. That is a role he has thrived in throughout his NBA career. He would hep take Dallas to the next level and would be exactly the kind of move that the franchise wanted to make this offseason.
