Why the Trade Benefits the Los Angeles Clippers
During the postseason, the Los Angeles Clippers were forced to go with Beverley and Landry Shamet. This put more pressure on Paul George and Leonard to handle the ball and run the offense. They are in need of another weapon to take over that role so their stars can play on the wing.
In 2019, Dinwiddie played 62 games and averaged 31.2 minutes per night. He scored 20.6 points and added 6.8 assists per contest. He proved that he is capable of being a starting point guard in the league.
With Irving coming back, this moves Dinwiddie to the bench. He is one of the Nets’ many trade pieces along with Caris LeVert and Jarrett Allen. Dinwiddie makes the most sense to trade because of his lack of position with Irving back.
The Nets would benefit from having a veteran point guard on the bench to backup Irving. They could use a leader in the second lineup that can compete on both ends of the floor. This is what Beverley is, especially on the defensive end.
