Why This Trade Makes Sense For The New York Knicks
On the other side of the deal, the Knicks would be swinging for the fences on a star. Victor Oladipo may not be the star that he once was, but this deal makes sense for New York. Giving up a young point guard that may not fit long-term and a late first-round pick would not be too much.
Granted, this deal would be a bit of a risk with Oladipo not looking like his old self last year. No one truly knows if he will ever go back to his old game following the gruesome ruptured quad injury he suffered.
But, James Dolan wants to add star power. Oladipo has been rumored to be desiring a move to a big market. If that is the case, New York would be a perfect fit.
New York needs to find a way to attract star power. Trading for Oladipo may not be the superstar that they want, but he is connected around the league. Players may very well want to join Oladipo with the Knicks if he returns to form.
Oladipo would be the kind of player that could turn the Knicks around. It’s a risk, but it is one worth taking.
