Why the Trade Benefits the San Antonio Spurs
This trade mainly benefits the spurs because they would get rid of a player on a big contract who was unhappy with the current situation. If DeMar DeRozan wants out of San Antonio, it would benefit the Spurs to find a trade partner immediately.
DeRozan is still effective enough where the return will be beneficial. Dejounte Murray is the cornerstone player in San Antonio. Aaron Gordon would give them another option in the backcourt and complement Murray well with his skill set.
Mo Bamba has a chance to take the next step and could flourish with a coach like Popovich. The rebuild will not take long in San Antonio giving the people running their franchise.
The Spurs have two veteran players they could be on the move this offseason. This is a chance to get one of them off the books and into the Eastern Conference.
