Why the Trade Benefits the Charlotte Hornets

The big signing of Gordon Hayward shows how the Charlotte Hornets want to compete soon. They are weak at the center position and being able to acquire Al Horford could help solidify their lineup.

Hayward and Horford are two players that know each other well. They spent time together as members of the Boston Celtics. They are veteran players who know how to lead, especially come postseason time.

Charlotte is very talented but young in the frontcourt. P.J. Washington showed promising potential in his rookie campaign and Miles Bridges still has plenty of potential. However, Cody Zeller could be on his way out soon and has proven to be insufficient.

The leadership Al Horford brings to the table would go along way in hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. His contract is not the most attractive in the NBA, to say the least. Regardless, this is something that Charlotte would have to get past given their commitment to Gordon Hayward.
