Sacramento Kings Receive: Andre Drummond ($28.75M 2020-21 Salary)

Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: Cory Joseph ($12.6M), Jabari Parker ($6.5M), SAC 2021 2nd Round Pick, MEM 2021 2nd Round Pick (via SAC)

The tough part about this trade for the Cleveland Cavaliers is that they are not receiving much in return since not many teams are interested in acquiring Drummond, leading them to the Kings to try and get something for him in this scenario. Cory Joseph is nothing more than a veteran, backup point guard at this point in his career and there are a lot of unknowns about Jabari Parker and his future in the league.

The former 2nd overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft has faced a lot of injuries in his career and has never been able to play a full NBA season. Parker had a good start to last season, averaging 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds with the Hawks in 32 games before being traded to the Kings. In Sacramento, Parker will have to battle for minutes behind Marvin Bagley III and Nemanja Bjelica, which is why they would be willing to move him to acquire Andre Drummond.

While the Kings have not had much success over the years and have had many players leave the organization in free agency, bringing in Andre Drummond as a reliable option next to De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield could improve this team significantly. The one thing the Kings have not had over the years is steady play from the center position, but Drummond can flip the script on this really quick. If the Kings are to add Drummond, they would not have that bad of a roster if we are being honest.

De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield are two proven scorers and Marvin Bagley III has been a consistent post option. Harrison Barnes is not the player he once was with the Warriors but is still a reliable wing option and the addition of Andre Drummond opens the floor for all of these guys. Losing Jabari Parker would have no impact on the Sacramento Kings and after drafting guard Tyrese Haliburton No. 12 overall in the draft, Cory Joseph’s worth to the Kings has declined drastically.

The Cavs would most likely pass on this trade as of right now, but if they truly want to deal Drummond and get him off their payroll, while acquiring some draft picks, the Kings would definitely be a trade suitor. Not to mention, the Kings have the financial flexibility to bring in Andre Drummond’s $28.75M contract for the upcoming season.
