With Tim Hardaway Jr. having a player option this NBA offseason, he wasn’t included in the main trade package as a result. If he were to opt-in for the final year of his contract, the Dallas Mavericks could change this trade scenario up to include him as the focus.

With it currently being unknown if Hardaway Jr. will be an option to include, the Mavericks would instead send the Chicago Bulls a combination of Delon Wright, Seth Curry, and Dorian Finney-Smith with NBA Draft selections.

The Mavericks would take on just $19.5 million in salary with Zach LaVine while the Bulls’ incoming figure would be $20.8 million. Chicago would also have the rookie-scale salaries for the No. 18 and No. 32 picks to account for on their salary cap table.

Let’s take a look at why this intriguing NBA trade would benefit both the Chicago Bulls and Dallas Mavericks.
