Why the Trade Makes Sense for the Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls stand in a position at No. 4 in the 2020 NBA Draft order where they may be just out of reach to land a prospect they truly want. A team seeking a facilitator should pursue the best passer in the class— LaMelo Ball.
It’s not a guarantee the Bulls would need to trade up in order to land Ball. In fact, the Minnesota Timberwolves still could end up using the No. 1 pick to take him. However, pulling off a move to get to the No. 2 spot would help Chicago significantly help their chances.
The impact Wendell Carter Jr. has provided the Bulls has simply been underwhelming since entering the NBA. He posted solid averages of 11.3 points and 9.4 rebounds last season and that’s respectable, but beyond the box score, there’s plenty of room for more.
The Bulls would be in a position to take James Wiseman if Ball were the first prospect off the board. It would make plenty of sense since the Charlotte Hornets have strong interest in Wiseman, and after trading Carter Jr., Chicago would have a need for the center prospect.
