Why the Trade Benefits the New Orleans Pelicans

Again, this trade will come down to if the New Orleans Pelicans feel it is worth it. It all depends on the direction they want to be heading in. This seems to be a win-now package and New Orleans is not in a win-now mode.

There is no reason the Pelicans cannot compete three or four years down the line. They have players like Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Lonzo Ball as their core.

If Holiday wants to land in Los Angeles, this deal could get done. If he does not have a preference, then there is a chance the Clippers are outbid here. Regardless, this would be a short-term deal with two players without long contracts.

The Pelicans are in a position where they have to deal Jrue Holiday. A deal is going to get done sooner than later and the Clippers could be the destination.
