Why the Trade Benefits the Los Angeles Clippers

This trade seems like a no-brainer for the Los Angeles Clippers. In the postseason, it is all about strong guard play. The Clippers have elite players in Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, but they need a ball handler to run the offense and take pressure off the wings.

When looking at Holiday, he does all the things Beverley does. He is an elite defender, can handle the ball, and shoot from deep. Holiday is a more dynamic player on the offensive end.

Williams has one year left on his deal and Beverly has two. The Clippers would upgrade tremendously in this deal. The real question here is, will the Pelicans be willing to do this? If it is on the table, the Clippers should jump at the idea.

A “Big Three” of Jrue Holiday, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard could lead the Clippers to an NBA Finals appearance. There is plenty of defensive impact from each standout while improving their ability to get to the rim.
