Why the Grizzlies Should Do It
Memphis came as close as possible to being part of the NBA playoffs, without actually qualifying.
That had to sting for a Grizzlies franchise that was in the midst of transitioning out of the Mike Conley era as it entered the Ja Morant era.
But the pain from 2019-20 could subside if the Grizzlies make a move for a player such as LaVine.
Zach LaVine, a former first round pick of Minnesota, was already traded once in his career, in the blockbuster that sent Jimmy Butler from the Bulls to the T’Wolves. In this deal, it would be LaVine who is the headliner.
From a development standpoint, LaVine’s numbers have improved on a year-to-year arc in every season, excluding 2017 when he suffered a torn ACL. At just 25 years old, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see LaVine averaging 30+ points per game soon.
