3 trade packages to send Kings’ Buddy Hield to the Knicks

Package: RJ Barrett, Taj Gibson, 2021 second-round pick (from Hornets)

This is where it gets interesting. Sacramento could come to the table and say that a deal will not get done unless the Knicks feature Barrett or Mitchell Robinson. So which would you rather keep?

Robinson seems like the clear choice.

It is unlikely that the Knicks give up on Barrett after one season, but Leon Rose could look to make a splash during his first offseason. Of course, the Knicks would like to hang on to both and center the deal around Knox or Ntilikina.

If that is not possible, at least they would hold onto their first-round picks. They have picks built up from the Kristaps Porzingis deal with the Dallas Mavericks. This second-round selection came from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Willy Hernangomez.

Whether you like Barrett or not, the Knicks are not in a position where many players should be untouchable. That includes Robinson or Barrett. The difference is, the return will have to be much higher on these two players. The Knicks could likely even get an extra player in this deal if Barrett is included.
