Why The Chicago Bulls Should Do It
Billy Donovan has been clear that he came to Chicago to win. The Bulls have said all the right things this offseason, and there seems to be a lot of optimism heading into next season.
But what better way to signal to fans that the franchise is all-in on this new regime?
Assuming Donovan would welcome a reunion with Beal, this could be a great way to put his stamp on the roster as the Bulls try to climb the ladder in the East.
Chicago would have the security of knowing that Beal is under team control through 2022-23, so he wouldn’t just be a one-year rental.
From Chicago’s perspective, there would absolutely be risk involved, but acquiring a star is hardly a smooth process. The Bulls in this hypothetical part with No. 4, which would forfeit the chance to perhaps land a player such as Obi Toppin, Tyrese Haliburton and others.
But it may be worth it for Beal, a two-time All-Star who’s familiar with Donovan.
