Charlotte Hornets Receive: Myles Turner

Indiana Pacers Receive: Cody Zeller, No. 3 Pick in 2020 NBA Draft

A trade between these two teams is a tough fit, as Charlotte does not have many assets it could trade to match Turner’s salary.

Indiana likely wants no part of the $27 million on the final year of Nicolas Batum’s contract from Charlotte.

After losing Kemba Walker to the Celtics, the Hornets committed to Terry Rozier, so he likely wouldn’t head to Indiana in this deal, either.

Biyombo, as mentioned, is off Charlotte’s payroll. So that leaves Zeller. But from Indiana’s standpoint, this raises two concerns. First, Indiana would be trading one center for another, which could be viewed as a lateral move.

And Zeller alone isn’t all that valuable, so perhaps the only way this deal works without involving a third team is by Charlotte parting with its prized asset, the No. 3 pick.
