Boston Celtics Add Size With Andre Drummond
There’s a lot to like about the roster the Boston Celtics have managed to build over the last few years. A combination of intriguing young wings in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and a shifty scoring guard with Kemba Walker.
One area the Celtics would benefit from upgrading is the center position. Since the departure of Al Horford last offseason, Boston has relied on the likes of Daniel Theis, Robert Williams, and Enes Kanter to get the job done.
The Celtics could benefit from adding size in the middle and Andre Drummond appears to be a very attainable option. The Cavaliers are reluctant to give him a substantial contract extension and there’s a chance he picks up his final-year player-option.
While Drummond has not integrated a reliable jump shot into his arsenal, the pressure he applies to the opposition on the boards does add value to a half-court defense. He also is a 7-footer with a 7-foot-6 wingspan, so that kind of standing reach would help a defense.
It would be intriguing to see Drummond have the opportunity to play for a winning organization since he’s mostly been on losing teams in his career. He’s never had the benefit of playing alongside a loaded perimeter.
