Why The Washington Wizards Should Do It
The Washington Wizards have tried for years to make the duo of Bradley Beal and John Wall work in the Eastern Conference.
Wall is 30, and Beal is 27. It may be time to finally break up the core for the Wizards, and this would be an opportunity for Washington to recoup multiple first round picks.
The big question for Washington is their asking price. Would two first round picks be enough to move Beal and take on the contract of Wiggins?
The Warriors also have their own first round pick that they could offer in 2021, but three first round picks is a steep price, even for Beal.
The Wizards should do this if they feel the duo of Beal and Wall has run its course. Washington could use the No. 2 pick and it would give them two picks in the top-10. The Wizards also hold the No. 9 overall selection.
Those picks, combined with another first from Golden State in 2021, would give the Wizards ample options to improve and get younger. As for Wiggins, it’s easy to forget he’s still just 25, and he could take on a big role in Washington if Beal is moved.
