Indiana Pacers looking to re-sign Justin Holiday in NBA free agency

The Indiana Pacers are entering what could be a very busy offseason. With trade rumors surrounding both Myles Turner and Victor Oladipo, nothing else has been talked about much. One thing to keep an eye on is impending free agent Justin Holiday.

According to a report from J. Michael of the Indianapolis Star, the Pacers are looking to re-sign Holiday in free agency.

While NBA free agency isn’t here yet, the Indiana Pacers have finally made it clear to Justin Holiday they want the free agent back, league sources told IndyStar.

In order to re-sign Holiday, the Pacers might have to get creative. Indiana doesn’t have a lot of money to spend. Holiday will have a decent market, although he did seem to like his tenure with the Pacers this season.

During the 2019-20 NBA season, Holiday became a part-time starter and an incredibly important role player. He averaged 8.3 points per game to go along with 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Holiday also averaged 1.2 steals per game.

Holiday also was a three-point threat for the Pacers. He shot 40.5 percent from the three-point line, which makes him even more valuable. Every team in the league is always looking to add more shooting, which will lead the multiple offers on the table for Holiday.

At 31 years old, Holiday will be looking for the best contract he can find with a team that he can have a big role and compete with. While the Pacers may not be viewed as a championship contender, they are always in the thick of things in the Eastern Conference.

Only time will tell if the Pacers can bring him back, but the two sides make perfect sense for each other. Justin Holiday will have his pick of offers, but the Pacers are hoping that they can convince him to stick around for at least another season.
