Why the Clippers Should Do It
The main piece of this deal for the Clippers is obviously Middleton.
Middleton is a two-time All Star, who is coming off a season in which he had career highs in points per game, rebounds per game, free throw percentage and effective field goal percentage.
And Middleton offers Los Angeles something that George has not: Long-term security.
The 29-year-old has a guaranteed contract through 2023, with a player option for the 2024 season. As the Clippers face the possibility of George leaving next season, and very little in the way of draft picks thanks to the George trade, Middleton would provide stability for multiple years.
The Clippers would also acquire two young pieces in Wilson, (24) and DiVincenzo (23) who would add depth to their roster. Wilson is set to make $4.5 million next season, while DiVincenzo will make $3.04 million. The first-round pick also adds an asset for the Clippers to use.
This could be a deal that makes sense for both teams, as the Clippers and Bucks will both attempt to get back on track next season.
