B/R suggests a Nets-76ers trade centered around Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers went through a very disappointing finish to the 2019-20 season in the playoffs at the hands of the Boston Celtics. While a trade may not seem likely, the Brooklyn Nets have been mentioned as a team that could potentially acquire Embiid.

That comes directly from Bleacher Report, who has suggested a blockbuster trade that would send Embiid from the 76ers to the Nets.

The trade would send Embiid to the Nets in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, the No. 19 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and a 2022 first-round pick.

Why would the 76ers make this move? Quite frankly, it’s a bit puzzling, outside of adding more talent. If there was one star on the move, Ben Simmons would seem like the likely choice for Philadelphia.

On the other side of things, being able to acquire Embiid to go with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving would be insane. That “big three” would have a chance to one of the most dominant that we have ever seen.

Embiid put together another big season for the 76ers in 2019-20, averaging 23 points per game to go along with 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 blocks. He shot 47.7 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 33.1 percent of his three-point attempts.

Let’s be honest, the likelihood of the 76ers trading Embiid is small. This package from the Nets is great value, but probably still nothing close to enough to acquire the superstar center. Bleacher Report may view this as an option, but it’s highly unlikely.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Joel Embiid and the 76ers this offseason. However, Simmons seems much more likely to be traded if a move is made. Embiid to the Nets is a very intriguing idea, but no one should expect to see this become reality.
