Brand gave a now 34-year old Horford a four-year, $109 million deal last offseason, and expected Brown to force a square peg (a big man most comfortable posting up or playing around the elbow) into a round hole around Embiid and Simmons. Horford struggled, as nearly 40 percent of his shot attempts came from 3-point range, and the years of commitment make him extra hard to trade.
