3. Trading Tobias?
76ers Receive: Chris Paul, Terrance Ferguson
Thunder Receive: Tobias Harris, Zhaire Smith, Matisse Thybulle, Future First-Round Pick
Trading Tobias Harris one year into a five-year, $180 million deal feels unlikely, not to mentioned hard to do. But while he said he would not look to trade Ben Simmons or Joel Embiid, Brand did not mention Harris as similarly untouchable. A 20-point game in the Game 4 loss to Boston where he went 7-for-12 from the floor pushed his scoring average for the series over 15 points per game and his field goal percentage over 38 percent. Not ideal for a third-fiddle, “borderline All-Star” who is being paid as a max player.
To get Oklahoma City to take on Harris’ contract, the 76ers will have to include young guards Smith and Thybulle and a first-round pick. Ferguson is a just a throw-in for the Thunder, and this deal would work without him.
