Indiana Pacers: 3 Big Goals for the Team to Achieve in 2018-19

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Become a Top-Five Rebounding Team

Perhaps the biggest weakness last season for the Pacers was on the glass. Indiana simply could not take care of rebounding, especially on the defensive side of the court. That has to change in 2018-19 if they want to take the next step as a team in the Eastern Conference.

Thaddeus Young and Myles Turner will once again make up the starting front-court. Domantas Sabonis and T.J. Leaf currently appear to be their backups.

That group is more than talented enough to improve on the glass. Turner has been bulking up this offseason, as has Sabonis. Young is a solid rebounder, but will need to focus on being more aggressive.

Leaf may be a bit of a weakness defensively, but he has a lot of passion for the game and works hard. That should help the Pacers become a better rebounding team.

Making it into the top five from a team rebounding perspective isn’t going to be easy. Indiana may not end up accomplishing that goal, but why set a goal if that goal is low?
