Portland Trail Blazers: 3 Questions Following the 2018 NBA Offseason

How Will They Finish in the Loaded West?

Look around the Western Conference, and you will see why the Portland Blazers may be in trouble. The majority of the teams made significant moves to either plug holes and got better. The Blazers stood pat, and instead of gaining fresh talent, they lost some.

Gone is reserve Ed Davis, and while that may not seem like a huge blow, he may have been their best post defender and rebounder. To make matters worse, allowing Davis to leave was not taken too kindly by Lillard and McCollum.

Instead of making a big splash, the Blazers decided to hold onto players like Meyers Leonard for whatever reason. While the Rockets are adding Carmelo Anthony, the Lakers added LeBron James, and the Warriors added DeMarcus Cousins. Meanwhile, the Blazers are praying for a miracle.

A look at the West and it’s not a stretch to say that the Portland Trail Blazers could find themselves in the 7th or 8th spot. The Warriors and Rockets will likely remain at the top of the conference again. Meanwhile, the Jazz, Thunder, Timberwolves, Lakers, Spurs, Pelicans, and Nuggets will also round out the rest.

It’s fair to say that the Blazers, who have started the past two seasons out slow could very well miss the playoffs.
