Isaiah Briscoe
Yes, Isaiah Briscoe is going to have the biggest impact for the Magic next season. He looked strong in Las Vegas, earning himself a contract. He played for BC Kalev in Estonia last season (bonus points for you if you knew BC Kalev existed before reading this) and has the biggest chip on his shoulder than any player on the Magic this season. More often than not, that translates into results.
Another reason why I have Briscoe ahead of Bamba is the fact that the point guard spot on the team is much more wide open than the center spot. Bamba will have to sit behind Vuc for at least the first part of the year. Briscoe will be given the opportunity much earlier than Bamba will, and although he may not get the first opportunity, he will get the opportunity first before any of the Magic’s rookies.
Yes, he’ll play behind Jerian Grant and D.J. Augustin, but leapfrogging those guys is a much easier task than overtaking the starting center for the past six seasons.
He’s definitely the dark horse, but Briscoe is here to surprise in 2018-19.
