Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 Goals for Kevin Love in 2018-19

Take More of a Leadership Role

Finally, Kevin Love needs to set a goal for himself to become more of a leader for the Cavaliers. Without James, the team simply does not have a leader on or off the court. That role will need to be taken by the new offensive key.

Love has a lot of experience and learned a lot while playing second fiddle to James. He knows what it takes to be a leader and will need to prove that point this year.

Cleveland is trying to avoid a total rebuild and are relying on Love to help them stay in the playoffs. Whether that leadership comes in the form of mentoring young players, helping players get where they need to go on the court, or becoming a better passer to set his teammates up with open looks, Love will need to improve.

It has been a long time since Love was the leader of a team. There were times that he showed excellent leadership skills during his stint with Minnesota. He has won an NBA championship since then, which should help him take over from a leadership perspective.

Expect to see Love come into the 2018-19 season with a chip on his shoulder looking to prove everyone wrong. He believes he can keep the Cavaliers in contention and will do everything in his power to do so.
