The Golden State Warriors have appealed to Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal in the past, according to NBA insider Fred Katz of The Athletic

The Wizards could trade Beal this offseason, and since the three-time All-Star has a no-trade clause in his contract, Beal would get to choose where he gets traded to.

“The Golden State Warriors appealed to him in the past, according to sources,” Katz wrote. “Throughout his short stint with Team USA in 2021, Draymond Green made sure to remind him (you may be surprised, more than once) of what joining a many-times champion could do for him.”

The Warriors have won four championships and played in six NBA Finals during the Stephen Curry-Klay Thompson-Draymond Green era. Meanwhile, Beal has never advanced past the second round of the playoffs with the Wizards.

With those things being said, it’s easy to see why Golden State has appealed to Beal in the past.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Bradley Beal, Washington Wizards & Golden State Warriors Updates

It’s unknown if the Warriors are interested in trading for Beal this offseason. The Dubs lost to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 Western Conference Semifinals in six games after beating the Boston Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals. Green can become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he declines his 2023-24 player option and Thompson is eligible to sign an extension.

The Warriors shocked the basketball world in 2016 when they signed Kevin Durant in free agency. It will be fascinating to see if Golden State rocks the sports world again by getting Beal this offseason.

A Florida product, Beal averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists for the Wizards this past season while shooting 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc, and 84.2% from the free-throw line. He’s regarded as one of the best shooters and scorers in the NBA.
