Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma claims Victor Wembanyama is the only untradeable player in the NBA.

The NBA season is nearly back. The offseason has finished and players are back on the hardwood for preseason basketball. For the most part, player movement is done. There will be small moves here and there until the trade deadline — which is essentially an in-season version of the offseason.

Blockbuster NBA trades have become the norm, and can even be seen with Karl-Anthony Towns — an All-Star talent — being traded on the eve of Media Day. According to Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma, there is only one player in the league safe of being traded.

Kuzma dubs Victor Wembanyama untouchable

Kuzma, himself, is not foreign to trade conversations and rumors. He was traded from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Wizards in a trade that involved Russell Westbrook, a legend of the sport. Since arriving to Washington D.C., he’s been a frequent of trade talks.

Anymore, trade talks don’t bother Kuzma, as he’s been involved in the rumors and has been traded before. He also claimed that only one player in the league is untouchable — that being San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

“It really doesn’t matter at the end of the day. One, it’s a business. Two, everybody in the NBA is tradable, except for [Victor Wembanyama],” Kuzma explained. “And I’d still be playing basketball if I get traded, so why would I be thinking about anything other than trying to put the ball in the hoop.”

There’s a very good reason Wembanyama is listed as the sole player not worth being traded. There’s not a talent like him in the NBA.

Wembanyama brings legendary potential

Kuzma is right — Wembanyama is the only true untradeable player. That is looking at it from afar. Of course, being untouchable or on the trade market is very, very situational. However, no matter what team Wembanyama is inserted on, he’s not available via trade.

The 7-foot-3, do-it-all talent brings generational potential. He entered the league being compared to LeBron James. The 20-year-old averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.6 blocks per game. He proved every bit of that potential.

The Spurs are now building around the “unicorn” center. Any team in the NBA would do the same, as he’s one of the most highly-touted prospects since James entered the league in 2003.

Again, the sentiment that he’s the only player that is untouchable isn’t entirely true, but to the extent of he would hold that title on any team, which isn’t the case for any other player, that much is true.
