Paul George and the Los Angeles Clippers’ fall out made headlines throughout the offseason as the 9x NBA All-Star signed a massive four-year, $212 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

It came as a shock to many since PG13 vowed to bring an NBA Championship to the Clippers. However, George’s stint with the LA Clippers will be remembered mostly for his failure to stay healthy.

Now, the 34-year-old has formed a dynamic duo with Joel Embiid and looks forward to bringing a title to Philly. Considering he is being paid top dollar to don the 76ers jersey, the expectations are evidently high from the former 10th overall pick.

George knew he would sign with 76ers last season

For months, the tug of war between George and the Clippers over a potential contract extension drew a lot of attention. While many believed that the former OKC Thunder forward would finish his career with the Clippers, PG13 had other plans.

Now, ahead of the 2024-25 season, George revealed that he had a ‘feeling’ about joining the 76ers during the 2024 NBA Finals. George made the statement to House of Highlights via X (formerly known as Twitter) while sharing his excitement to share the court with Embiid.

“Super excited,” George said in response to playing with the 2023 NBA MVP.

“One of the best players. One of the best big men the game has ever seen. So, super excited about that.”

The veteran forward then shared about the moment he got the ‘feeling’ to join the 76ers.

“So that moment was actually funny because I was kind of already feeling Philadelphia just on a persnal level. The opportunity to play alongside such a force in Joel. It was just funny that it caught everybody off-guard, but here I am,” George added.

In hindsight, playing the last few years alongside a terrific roster in Philadelphia made sense for George.

However, the Clippers nation will continue to believe the veteran forward backstabbed the franchise with the departure in the offseason.

Did Joel Embiid tamper Paul George’s move to 76ers?

The NBA has strict guidelines when it comes to tampering. But hey, life finds a way, correct? Speaking of which, ahead of Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals, a moment between the $57.7M star and George went viral.

The 2023 MVP gave a side-eye to George when he talked about improving the 76ers’ roster to beat a superteam like the Boston Celtics. Many fans instantly connected the dots and claimed Embiid tried to subtly recruit the then-Clippers star to Philly.

Here is the viral moment between the two stars:

Considering George’s recent comments, the suspicion has only grown stronger.

Now, the question remains whether the league will take any action against Embiid and co. after this newfound information. Only time will tell.
