The Minnesota Timberwolves made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals in the 2023-24 NBA season, marking their most successful campaign in two decades.

However, the Timberwolves were blasted by the Dallas Mavericks, illustrating that they don’t have quite enough yet to reach the mountaintop.

Part of the problem is that Minnesota could use a tertiary scoring option behind Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, and Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz sees a potential solution: Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma.

Kuzma played in 70 games this past year, averaging 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists over 32.6 minutes a night on 46.3/33.6/77.5 shooting splits.

It marked the second straight season that Kuzma registered over 20 points per game.

Kuzma’s efficiency is not exactly top notch, but the Timberwolves simply need scoring, and there is no question that Kuzma would provide that for them.

How far are the Minnesota Timberwolves from winning a championship?

The Wolves have certainly come a long way, but how close are they to winning an NBA title?

The duo of Edwards and Towns is definitely elite, and supporting pieces like Rudy Gobert, Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels make Minnesota one of the best defensive teams in the league.

But do the Timberwolves have enough firepower?

Adding someone like Kuzma would help solve that problem, but in the rugged Western Conference, making it all the way to the finals will still be difficult.

The good news is that the Minnesota Timberwolves have made extraordinary progress and should once again be in contention for a finals appearance next spring.
