Boston Celtics Receive Sobering Prediction For 2024-25 NBA Season

The Boston Celtics dominated the NBA last season, winning a league-best 64 games and ultimately capturing their 18th championship in franchise history.

There is very little reason to believe that the Celtics won’t be contending for another title next spring. They have brought back all of their key pieces, and it’s hard to find another team around the NBA that can genuinely matchup with Boston’s depth.

But will the Celtics be able to run through everyone yet again next season?

Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale has doubts that Boston will be quite as dominant as it was a year ago, mainly in terms of regular-season output.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Boston Celtics Updates

Favale makes a very salient point.

The chances of the C’s collecting 64 wins again seem relatively slim given that Kristaps Porzingis will miss the early portion of the season after recovering from surgery (even though he missed a solid chunk of 2023-24) and that the Celtics may end up coasting.

The Boston Celtics don’t need the No. 1 seed

Boston has proven that it can consistently win on the road in the playoffs. As a matter of fact, the C’s have actually performed better away from home the past couple of postseasons.

This is a veteran squad that can beat any team, anywhere. The Celtics are loaded with playoff experience from top to bottom, so chasing the No. 1 seed my not be a priority for them this coming season.

The most important thing for Boston will simply be getting into the playoffs healthy, so it would not be the least bit surprising if the C’s don’t go all out over the course of the 82-game campaign. As a matter of fact, it would be more surprising if the Celtics did attempt to do that.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Boston Celtics Updates

Many times, teams that win championships coast the following year. The regular season becomes a bore to them, and they may even go through stretches where they look vulnerable. Then, once the playoffs roll around, they kick it into gear.

Perhaps Boston will end up winning 60 games yet again during the 2024-25 campaign. The Celtics are certainly talented enough to do it, after all. But if they do end up finishing with less than 60 victories, it definitely would not be shocking.
