The Golden State Warriors are coming off a disappointing 2023-24 NBA campaign, featuring failure to earn a postseason birth. With Stephen Curry set to turn 37 during the upcoming season, the team has limited time to contend for championships with him. This offseason must be leveraged to maximize that window.

Curry remains a highly productive player, averaging 26.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 45.0% from the floor and 40.8% from beyond the arc. However, between Draymond Green‘s 25-game suspension early in the season and continued regression from players like Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins in the supporting cast, there wasn’t enough impact around Curry to achieve success.

According to Logan Murdock of The Ringer, the Warriors have “aggressively” offered Wiggins in trade talks and are “working hard” to trade Chris Paul. Golden State is limited on salary matching mechanisms outside of those players.

While the Warriors must focus on improving the roster, the team continues to face the need to retain Klay Thompson, who is set to reach free agency this summer. The team has to evaluate the pros and cons of allowing such an iconic player to depart versus the cost required to retain his services for what he considers a worthy contract.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, Golden State Warriors Updates

There have been increased rumors about Paul George being a possible trade target for the Warriors after he’s continued to fail to reach an agreement on a contract extension with the Clippers. Golden State has held onto draft picks in recent years as the team holds picks from 2025 to 2029, but the current Stepien rule would limit offering the 2025 pick until after this year’s draft passes with the selection being made.

George is far from the only player the Warriors could target this offseason to improve the roster. He’s just emerged as the best player available in the NBA. With teams like the New York Knicks already making a deal to acquire Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets, it appears likely that trade activity will heat up around the league as the NBA Draft ramps up.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, Golden State Warriors Updates

The Warriors must decide with Paul before too long. There has been talk about moving the option date for his $30 million player option since that is set to take place on Friday unless there is a change with both sides in agreement. However, Golden State could be faced with having to waive him, resulting in him entering free agency.
