The Golden State Warriors continued their unusual pattern of securing more victories on the road than at home, defeating the Miami Heat 113-92 during Tuesday’s NBA action.

Klay Thompson’s return to the starting lineup, scoring 28 points, alongside Jonathan Kuminga’s 18 points contribution, underscored the Warriors’ second-half surge to overcome the Heat in Miami.

“Our assist to turnover ratio was really good,” Thompson said. “That’s always a great indicator of if it’s a good night at the office.”

This victory marks the Warriors as potentially the second team in NBA history to conclude the season with an overall winning record while maintaining a sub-.500 record at home.

The widespread support for the Warriors, particularly for Stephen Curry, was evident even in Miami, a phenomenon head coach Steve Kerr highlighted.

“You walk into any arena in the league on the road and there’s automatically blue and yellow jerseys all over the place,” Kerr said. “Steph’s got so many fans across the country and a lot of people cheer for him no matter where we are.”

Curry, alongside Andrew Wiggins, contributed 17 points each, helping to extend the Warriors’ lead to as much as 22 points in the final quarter.

The Heat, struggling without key players including leading scorer Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Kevin Love, and Duncan Robinson due to injuries and illness, relied on Bam Adebayo who scored 24 points. Despite efforts from Haywood Highsmith, Terry Rozier, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Nikola Jovic, the Heat fell to a 2-16 record when scoring under 103 points.

Thompson acknowledged the Heat’s scoring difficulties, attributing part of the Warriors’ success to the absence of Miami’s top scorers.

“It helps when they’re missing their elite scorers,” Thompson said.

Despite a close gap early in the fourth quarter, the Warriors outscored the Heat significantly towards the game’s end, a fact Miami’s coach Erik Spoelstra reflected on.

“We could never get it to the moment of truth,” Spoelstra said. “And you have to credit Golden State.”
