The 2023-24 NBA regular season has not gone according to plan for the Atlanta Hawks to this point. They are 32-39 on the season, holding onto the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference, which is the last one in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

But, the historic come-from-behind victory they had over the Boston Celtics on Monday night could be just the thing the team needs for a late-season run. They overcame a 30-point deficit to defeat the team with the best record in the league and could start building some positive momentum.

The Hawks received some more positive news this week, about NBA All-Star point guard, Trae Young. Young has been sidelined for about a month with a torn ligament in his left pinkie finger.

He had his one-month follow-up examination this week and the team was given some positive news. Young will begin the next step of his rehabilitation process following surgery. He is making progress in his recovery, with small finger exercise motions set to begin this week.

NBA NEWS & SCORES: Trae Young & Atlanta Hawks Updates

While he is taking steps in the right direction, there is still no timetable for when Young could be back on the court and rejoin the Hawks’ lineup. That remains the same, as no timetable was provided at the time he was injured, either.

The injury was suffered on February 23rd when Atlanta lost a game to the Toronto Raptors. Somewhat surprisingly, the team has been staying afloat and playing just fine without him in the lineup, going 8-7.

Only 1.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for ninth place in the Eastern Conference, the Hawks could chase them down. That would result in a home game in the NBA Play-In Tournament in the first set of games.

During the 2023-24 NBA season, Young is averaging 26.4 points and 10.8 assists per game. It will be interesting to see how things unfold for him and the franchise this offseason, as some major moves are expected to happen with the roster.
