Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday is currently sidelined with what he describes as a “dead arm,” a condition. The ailment has kept him off the court since the team’s 130-104 victory against the Washington Wizards on March 17, and the NBA star’s return date is uncertain.

The Celtics prioritize rest for the Holiday, adopting a cautious strategy as the playoffs loom. Expressing his eagerness to return, Holiday admitted he’s feeling pain and understands

“I’m feeling something, for sure,” Holiday said. “I still want to play. That’s part of the reason I play basketball. But it’s also keeping rhythm. Sometimes, when you’re out for a long time, you break rhythm, but I feel like I’ve been in a good groove, and I want to continue to play.”

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla shared some insight into Holiday’s injury recovery, stating he’s improving.

“He’s in good shape,” Mazzulla said. “He’s doing well. He’s getting better.”

Holiday’s condition was caused by a collision with Richaun Holmes‘ screen while defending Jordan Poole, which resulted in a jammed arm and shoulder. Despite the initial attempt to play through the discomfort, Holiday was ultimately pulled from the game, marking his last appearance on the court.

Holiday’s contribution to the Celtics extends beyond his defense, which is pivotal to Boston’s boasting the league’s second-best defensive rating. He’s averaged 12.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 61 games, shooting a career-high 48.5% overall, a career-best-44.5% shooting from beyond the arc, and 83.3% on free throws.
