One of the biggest matchups the NBA has to offer is set to take place on Wednesday night. The Boston Celtics host the Milwaukee Bucks in a game between the first and second-place teams in the Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately for the fans, the game is going to be lacking some star power. As shared by Jamal Collier of ESPN, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is not going to be playing in the game because of a left hamstring injury.
Antetokounmpo was not with the team at their shootaround this morning, as he didn’t even make the trip to Boston. The plan right now is for him to rejoin the Bucks when they return to Milwaukee for a game against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night.
His absence is a huge one going up against the Celtics. It is hard enough for teams to compete with Boston while at full strength; missing your best player in Antetokounmpo, one of the best players in the NBA, makes it an even tougher hill to climb.

There is a chance that the Celtics aren’t at full strength, either. Every one of their starters sat out one of the last two games against the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards, and there is always a chance someone else misses the game tonight.
Alas, unless it is Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown who is sidelined, the Celtics won’t have as big of a void to fill as the Bucks. Replacing Antetokounmpo in the lineup is virtually impossible given the impact he makes on both sides of the court.
The former NBA MVP is having one of the best seasons of his career. He is scoring 30.8 points per game to go along with 11.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.2 steals and one block in 35 minutes. The assists are a career-high, as is his 61.6 percent shooting from the field.
