This offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers face a crucial decision regarding LeBron James. While it’s widely anticipated that the Lakers will work out a deal with arguably the greatest player ever, the potential entry of his son, Bronny James, into the NBA could alter their plans significantly. Should Bronny declare for the draft, teams may strategize to draft him in hopes of enticing LeBron to join them. Among those teams, Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report identifies the Philadelphia 76ers as a potential contender for this move.

Pincus recently shared his early predictions for the NBA offseason, suggesting that the 76ers could draft Bronny and subsequently secure LeBron’s services in free agency.

“What if the Sixers used their first- or second-round pick in June to draft Bronny James? Should his father, LeBron James (No. 1 on our free-agent big board), opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia could have just enough to max him out at around $50 million. That would give the Sixers another $7 million in space, plus the room mid-level exception of about $8 million to flesh out a roster with Paul Reed, Embiid, Maxey and the James father-and-son pairing.”

The prospect of pairing LeBron with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey instantly elevates the 76ers, enhancing their status as contenders, particularly when they’re at full strength.

LeBron’s enduring brilliance on the court is evident as he shows no signs of slowing down. Despite the Lakers’ struggles to capitalize on his performances this season, his exceptional display against the Golden State Warriors on March 16 exemplifies why the Philadelphia 76ers would covet his addition.

In that game, LeBron poured in 40 points on an efficient 15-23 shooting from the field, complemented by nine assists, eight rebounds, and three made three-pointers.

Throughout the season, the 39-year-old has maintained impressive averages of 25.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. Remarkably, LeBron is also shooting over 40% from beyond the arc, matching the highest mark of his illustrious career.

His arrival would fortify the 76ers’ position in the competitive Eastern Conference, where teams like the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks pose significant challenges. Importantly, LeBron wouldn’t necessarily need to shoulder the primary scoring load for the 76ers to succeed, a notable departure from his current role with the Lakers.
