New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson has taken the NBA world by storm with his performance during the 2023-24 season. The first-time All-Star has raised his game to another level when the team has needed him most, given the injuries the Knicks are enduring.

New York is without fellow NBA All-Star Julius Randle, forward OG Anunoby and center Mitchell Robinson. That is the team’s starting frontcourt all sidelined with long-term injuries, missing 20+ games apiece and counting.

Despite the deck being stacked against them regularly, the Knicks have found a way to tread water, remaining in the hunt for the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. Brunson is a major reason why, as he is playing at an MVP level.

What Brunson has done not only this season but in turning the franchise around as a whole, has been remarkable. Before he signed as a free agent in 2022, this was a team lacking a floor general to bring everything together.

NBA NEWS & SCORES: Jalen Brunson & New York Knicks Updates

Before Brunson’s arrival, the team hadn’t had the same starting point guard on opening night since Chris Duhon in 2008 and 2009. That is something Brunson changed this year, and the Knicks are hoping remains unchanged for years to come.

A premier franchise in the NBA, the Knicks are back in business in large part because of Brunson. In the opinion of NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Brunson’s signing was one of the most impactful free agent additions in league history.

“Outside of LeBron James…of Kevin Durant… Jalen Brunson has been the most impactful free agent maybe in the last decade… He’s pulled this entire organization—that had been rudderless for years—together…He’s as good of a leader, as good of a locker room character guy, as there is in the NBA. And he’s taken his game to places that I don’t even think the Knicks expected… What he’s done is remarkable,” Wojnarowski said during an appearance on ESPN’s NBA Countdown Monday night.

At this point, people are running out of words to describe just how amazing it is what Brunson is doing. The Knicks were the laughingstock of the NBA for decades, but their fortunes have turned around drastically with him leading the way.
