Marcus Morris Sr.’s recent transition to the Cleveland Cavaliers marks an optimistic chapter in his NBA journey. After parting ways with the San Antonio Spurs through a buyout last month, Morris found a new beginning with the Cavs, signing a 10-day contract. His integration into the team was swift, participating in his first shootaround shortly after.

“I’m trying to be here for the run and I’m just excited to help the team in any way I can. Just coming in and being a veteran. Just be myself,” Morris told “Be a natural leader and be there for the guys and help them get ready for this run. I’ve been in the playoffs a bunch of times in my career and there are a lot of young guys here, so help them prepare and also perform on the court.”

Though the Cavaliers have made no promises regarding Morris’s future beyond the 10-day contract, the team’s injury challenges may pave the way for his extended stay or a standard contract as the playoffs approach, reports. Morris’s postseason eligibility comes as a boon to the Cavaliers, thanks to his buyout agreement with San Antonio.
