There are a lot of metrics that love what the New York Knicks have done during the 2023-24 NBA regular season. When healthy, they have proven to be one of the most dominant teams in the league, routinely blowing out opponents. While that level of performance hasn’t been seen much in recent weeks because of injuries, we have gotten another glimpse of it over the last three games.

After missing 18 consecutive contests, forward OG Anunoby returned to New York’s lineup last week against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks promptly blew out Philadelphia, winning 106-79.

Anunboy and the Knicks picked up right where they left off on January 27th, the last time he had played before last Tuesday. He has now played in three games since coming back and New York is 3-0, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings.

With Anunoby in the lineup, the Knicks have produced some eye-popping production. As shared by Michael Grogins on X, New York has some of the best two-many pairings in the league featuring Anunoby.

When Anunboy is in the lineup along with NBA All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson, the Knicks have gone 14-1 this season. The only loss was on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on January 21st. When playing against teams over the .500 mark, New York has gone 8-1.

There may not be a better defensive duo in the NBA right now than Anunoby and Josh Hart. Those two have a defensive rating of 88.3 when on the court together, while also producing a staggering net rating of +30.6.

Hart isn’t the only player that Anunoby has had success with on the court. Also shared by Grogins, five out of the top-10 two-man net rating combos in the NBA this season are shared by Anunoby and a Knicks teammate.

The level of success that Anunoby has had personally and helped the Knicks achieve has been very impressive. If Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson can also return to the team and get close to the level of production they had earlier this season, New York isn’t a team anyone is going to want to face off against in the NBA postseason.
