In a recent match against the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun experienced a leg injury towards the end of the game and had to be removed from the court using a wheelchair. The Rockets overcame his absence to achieve the 112-104 victory during Sunday’s NBA action.

“It doesn’t diminish the win in general,” Rockets coach Ime Udoka said. “I think it was one of our best road wins. He had a huge part in that.”

The injury occurred when Sengun awkwardly fell on his left leg while trying to block Domantas Sabonis‘ layup after the Rockets lost possession.

The fall led to Sengun writhing in pain on the floor until the medical team came to his assistance. Moments later, the 21-year-old was seen being wheeled away to the locker room, covering his face with his hands in distress.

Sengun, who is in his third season with Houston, has been having an outstanding year, with averages of 21.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game – all personal bests.

Before leaving the game, which had only 39 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Sengun had contributed 14 points, six rebounds, two assists, and two steals to his team’s effort. Despite his early exit, the Rockets managed to secure a 112–104 win over the Kings, rallying from a 13-point deficit.

“Injuries are part of the game,” Rockets guard Fred VanVleet said. “We all understand that when we signed up, but it’s always tough to see your teammates go down, especially the young ones who haven’t really been through it before.”
