Everyone in the NBA deals with injuries throughout the season. On Sunday night, the New York Knicks suffered yet another one, but they were able to pick up a massive win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. In the victory, they showed some championship grit.

In a big game on national television, the Knicks looked like their season had ended under a minute into the game. When pulling up for a jump shot, Jalen Brunson went down hard and was in pain on what appeared to be a non-contact injury.

Brunson went to the locker room and never returned, leading many to speculate how severe of an injury it was. However, the Knicks still had a massive game in front of them without their star player against the Cavaliers. Even without Brunson, the Knicks were able to find a way to get a win against a playoff team on the road.

Big picture, the Knicks are lucky that it doesn’t appear the injury to Brunson was a major one. After the game, it was announced that he had a knee contusion and is being listed as day-to-day.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo, Bojan Bogdanovic, New York Knicks Updates

For the Knicks in the win over the Cavaliers, there was a lot to like from this team without their star. New York easily could have rolled over on the road when Brunson went down and things were grim. However, they fought hard and got a win.

In the win, the Knicks got some big performances from the other two Villanova boys, as Josh Hart recorded a triple-double with 13 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists. Donte DiVincenzo led the Knicks in scoring with 28 points, which included six 3-pointers. The combination of the two games from DiVincenzo and Hart helped propel the Knicks to the win.

While the Villanova boys led the way for the Knicks in the starting lineup, Bojan Bogdanovic again contributed off the bench with 20 points. Bogdanovic’s ability to score with the second unit has been really useful for the Knicks, and something they are hoping to see consistently.

This was a big win for the Knicks who have seen their position in the NBA’s Eastern Conference become very uneasy of late. Hopefully, Brunson is back on the court for the next game, but the credit has to go to the rest of the team in this one for showing a lot of grit to get the win.
