Josh Hart, New York Knicks, NBA Trade Rumors

Every team in the NBA needs to have a plan. They can rest assured that their competition is planning. They’re guaranteed to fall behind if they don’t have a plan.

The New York Knicks seem to have a plan. It seems to be a complicated plan with a lot of moving pieces. The Knicks are trying to stay competitive, remain attractive to stars – and collect assets.

By contrast, the Golden State Warriors already executed their plan and built a dynasty. Now, they need to figure out their next move. The Warriors could rebuild their aging roster, or, they could try to win another title. If they’re making the latter plan, could they acquire Josh Hart from the Knicks this summer?

NBA Trade Proposal

New York Knicks Receive: G/F Andrew Wiggins, 2026 First-Round Pick (GSW), 2027 First-Round Pick (Swap – GSW)

Golden State Warriors Receive: C Mitchell Robinson, G/F Josh Hart

The Knicks seem primed to trade for a star. That’s fair. The Warriors never made that choice throughout their dynasty. This team drafted its way to elite status.

Until they signed Kevin Durant, that is. The Warriors didn’t need to surrender assets to land him. Durant was interested in joining a team that had already won a title. Should the Knicks try to learn from the Warriors?

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Josh Hart, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors Updates

We wouldn’t go that far. There are several ways to build a contender. The Warriors’ success is not easily replicated. So, the Knicks should go their own way. Does this deal help them find their path?

Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal

At one time, we would have assumed that Robinson was untouchable for the Knicks. Not anymore. This team has been just as successful with Isaiah Hartenstein in the middle.

Meanwhile, Hart could be expendable as well. The Knicks will surely commit to O.G. Anunoby this year. Donte DiVincenzo is functionally similar as well. If Wiggins can bounce back at all next year, this deal may not even significantly weaken the Knicks.

So they ought to be happy to pick up an unprotected first and a swap from an aging Warriors team. This deal will help the Knicks in their quest to trade for a superstar. Should the Warriors help them along their journey?

Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal

The Knicks can hope that Wiggins will bounce back. The Warriors shouldn’t count on it. It’s been an underwhelming season for the former number-one pick. In all likelihood, the Warriors would be pleased to get off of his contract.

That’s why they’re sending the 2027 swap. Otherwise, they’re moving an unprotected first to pick up two excellent rotation players. The Warriors have suffered from a lack of size this year – Robinson will help.

Still, Hart is the star of the return here. He’s arguably the best-rebounding non-big in the league. Hart is also a solid floor spacer, defender, and passer who will fit into this team’s system. The Warriors should plan to acquire him if he’s available.
